Dr. Joanne Fava is a Chiropractic Sports Medicine Physician with over 30 years of extensive focus in functional sports medicine, injury rehabilitation, and conservative musculoskeletal care. Licensed in Florida since 1995, she combines advanced chiropractic techniques with emergency medical training to help patients—from weekend athletes to elite competitors—recover faster and return to the activities they love.


In addition to her private practice, Dr. Fava serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Nathan Benderson Park Conservancy, where you can find her volunteering her time providing care to athletes from around the world!


A graduate of New York Chiropractic College (1994), Dr. Fava is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) and holds advanced certifications in Graston Technique (GTS -Graston Technique Specialist as well as Levels 1-3), FAKTR, RockTape, and Kinesiotape. She is also a certified EMT-B.

 

In 1995, she co-founded a multidisciplinary sports medicine rehabilitation facility in Venice, Florida expanding to reach University Town Center in 2013. Her innovative protocols have reduced average recovery times by up to 50%. Allowing patients to Train Harder. Recover Faster and Stay Stronger. 


Dr. Fava has extensive experience working with elite and professional athletes and has traveled internationally with Team USA since 2015. She has served as a Volunteer Medical Physician at the U.S. Olympic Training Centers in Colorado Springs and Chula Vista, currently on staff as a traveling physician for USA Swimming, and the Chief Medical Officer for Nathan Benderson Park Conservancy. since 2019. She has served as President of the Florida Chiropractic Association Sports Injury Council from 2002- 2008, President of the United States Sports Chiropractic Federation 2006, and Chairman of the Board of the Florida Sports Foundation from 2010-2013. She currently mentors chiropractic interns as an Adjunct Supervising Physician at National University of Health Sciences and Northeast College of Health Sciences.


She is a published author, co-writing of Chapter 12 Trunk and Viscera; 2nd Edition of Conservative Management of Sports Injuries, and continues to serve as a Legal Medical Consultant and Expert Witness.


An avid triathlete, runner, and swimmer. She also enjoys being out on the water no matter where that is as well as  playing trivia every Monday night at British Open Pub with her friends Team Trebeks Rejects!    Dr. Fava brings personal insight into athletic demands. She is actively involved in the community as a former Special Olympics coach, youth soccer trainer, former board of director and past president of the Sarasota Storm Triathlon Club and current Sports Chiropractor for Venice High School Athletics Department treating all students athletes and enjoying being on the side lines with Steve Bennett, ATC the long time Trainer at VHS.

Our history

Drs Fava and Gambina opened the doors to the foundation of this world class rehab center in March 1995. Over the past 30 years they have been involved with National and International athletes rehabbing and helping them get back to the starting blocks.

Drs Fava and Gambina opened the doors to the foundation of this world class rehab center in March 1995. Over the past 30 years they have been involved with National and International athletes rehabbing and helping them get back to the starting blocks. 


Since 2019 Dr Fava has continued this journey. In the 2020 (2021) Tokyo Olympic Games she had 10 athletes competing in the games that year bringing home 1 Gold Medal; 2 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals. This year she had the pleasure of representing USA Swimming at the World Championships in Doha Qatar and worked along side the coaching staff to ensure 3 athletes gained their spot to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Along with those athletes and the athletes that train locally Dr. Fava worked with 13 athletes at this years Games bringing home 3 Gold Medal; 2 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals.  


Dr Fava utlizes functional movement patterns engaging soft tissue structures to rehabilitate the patient. At any time our office is filled with regular every day people who just want to be treated with the best possible care as well as professional and elite athletes!
